2 'eme jour

Today was a teensy bit easier, hoping this is a trend. More words are being recognized, getting the gist of what is said instead of looking wide eyed all the time. There are others that are in the same boat, like ducks we are paddling as fast as we can and try to look calm above the surface of the water.

We had orientation of "labo" today. We'll be spending at least an hour a day here. Listening (ecouter), speaking/recording (parler) and typing out answers to questions (ecriver). I'll be glad to get over the hump so that this becomes second nature. At this point, first nature would be fine.

Needing to take a breather, Paul and I went for a walk in the neighborhood. This is the front of Les Cedres.
All around Les Cedres are apartment buildings except for this charming petite maison. Very small but has lots of personality. Tres jolie fleurs.
A little further down the street, we came upon a small park. At the entrance was a grand patch of "lavande".
A fountain and if you look closely you'll see a statue on the other side. You will always see people sitting in the park, enjoying the weather and the scenery. Probably because of the tiny apartments they live in. Most of the balconies have a table and chairs, when the weather is nice everyone is outside. It has been overcast today. The temperature much more comfortable than the past couple of days. Staying in an non-a/c dorm has it's drawbacks, we walked over to the supermarche to buy a "ventilateur" which has been a life saver. There is no tv here. Not much to get distracted by. We spend our days in class, trying to communicate with other "etudiants" at leisurely "repas", doing homework and taking naps trying to recover from class. I am so grateful to have this experience. A bientot mes amies!
